#PC to Amiga Connect
9 messages in this thread
I need a way to connect my PC with its internal modem, to my 500+ amiga to
allow download via PC to Amiga. Whether hardware or software, if you have
managed this I would really appreciate some help! Thanks a Lot, from Perth,
Scotland. Alan F
Alan,
You don't need a modem…simply a NULL modem cable to connect the
two serial ports together. Then run a terminal program on both your PC and
the Amiga at the highest common speed both support, and transfer files via
protocol.
Another option is to buy CrossDOS and simply use floppies to copy
the files over.

Alan:
Croos-Dos or Dos-2-Dos are two commercial prgrams (both under $30) that
will allow your 500 to read and write 720K 3.5 DSDD disks to/from the PC…
the messyfilesystem MSH (shareware) is here in the libs also. You don't
need a modem to connect the 500 to the pc, just use a null modem and run
terminal software on both machines.

Michael,
Humm…you left your message to the wrong person.

…….or have a look at Twin Express which is around here as TNXA11.LZH
and TNXB11.EXE – a brilliant file transfer utility. You still need a null
modem cable though.

Sorry Don, I just realised that Michael replied to you by accident – and I
just commented to his reply!

Alan,
There are a number of ways to do this. I find the easiest form of file
transfer is to use CrossDOS, the software from Consultron that allows you
to read and write 3.5" PC disks with your Amiga. It's available for about
$25 in the US, and I know it's distributed in the UK as well.
There are two other options: simply use a null-modem connector hooked to
the serial ports of both computers, and use terminal programs to transfer
the files. Or, you can just hook the phone wire from one modem into the
other and connect via modem.
Thanks for the help, guys. It is nice to find such a lively (?) forum.
Iwill be back!
