I've run into a problem w/my new config. on a 2000, I switched to a GVP
Controller and added a Multistart dual rom bd. to my machine which has the
commodore 68020 bd. in it w/ the latest ROMS. Now I can't trap the accel
erator cd. to go to 68000 mode like I could when I was using the Palomax
bd. Does anyone have any idea whether there are problems w/GVP's SCSI or
the multistart and the 68020 bds. Thanks for any input. Don
Under the 2.04 ROM, you have to change a chip on the A2620 for it to work
correctly.
If you're talking about the ROM's I put the new ones on the bd. if you're
talking about another chip. which one? Thanks Don s

I'm not certain of the exact chip(s). However, I do know that if you
install the 2.04 ROM on the motherboard, you must also change a chip(s) on
the A2620 or A2630 accelerators. Your service center will know which chip
(s) have to be changed.

The A2620 ROM chips (two ?) need to be at Rev 6 (or higher) in order for
the '20 to work properly with AmigaDOS V2.04. I don't know what is needed
for the A2630's, but it if anything, it is probably their ROM chip(s).

Jim,
2620's and 2630's use the same ROM chips. So yes, your presumption
is correct…2630's also need the ROM upgrade to -06 or higher to work with
the 2.04 OS ROM.

Thanks for your help pressing the right mouse button solves the problem – I
was pressing both buttons like the old ROM's required. Don
Hold down the RIGHT mouse button on bootup (either warm or cold
start) to get the menu to select 68000 or 68020 mode.

I know about holding down the buttons, it used to work fine it just doesn't

No…not both buttons…just the right button. That's one change
that comes with the 07 ROMs. If you hold down both buttons, you should be
presented with a boot device menu (presuming you're using a 2.04 OS ROM).
One of the other changes is that UNIX is no longer listed as an
option, although it's still available in the monitor mode.
