You might want to check the library for a file that is a National Gardening article I wrote a couple of years ago after talking to the breeder of Jersey Giant and some of the researchers that had tested it and its siblings around the country. The details of which sibling was best adapted to which section of the country was particularly relevant, as was the specific discoveries made by researchers into the myths of asparagus care. I'm afraid I don't have those details sufficiently in mind to spit it all out now, but might be jogged by specific questions….otherwise you should be able to find in the article if it is uploaded as our esteemed sysop W Schultz (who oversaw the completion of that assignment) did indeed allow much of that information to actually make it into the finished article! That asparagus article was in March of '90. About Howard Ellison of Rutgers. Very interesting article! Bill should perhaps be looking for male asparagus.
