Hi Howard. I was very sad to say goodbye to the GOODEARTH, but glad to be here on GARDEN. It's good to see your familiar face/name! I wish the new forum the best of luck. Now, who can tell me about using Walls of Water to get early tomatoes in southeastern Pennsylvania? Thanks. Jodi

Jodi, I've been using Walls o Water just west of Philadelphia for years. They are terrific. You can order them from many mail order catalogs now, but if you are planning to go to the Philadelphia Flower Show, they are always for sale in the trade section.

Jeff, I plan to visit Philadelphia at the end of May, on my way to Toronto for the ARGS annual meeting. I will be staying in West Chester. Can you recommend several intimate gardens (that is, not Longwood or estates) of horticultural as well as esthetic interest I could visit in the vicinity?

Marjory, we'd love to send you a list of small but special gardens in our area. We live just 20 minutes from West Chester. Give us your address on E-Mail. Liz will come up with a list in the next week or so and shoot it to you. One garden you must see is Hedgley Spring, the third generation garden of our dear friend and co-author Charles Cresson. It is really seven gardens on a quarter of an acre in Swarthmore. If you want a preview, it is one of the garden's featured in The American Man's Garden, published last year. Maybe we can get together during your visit. In any case, we'll send you a nice list.

Gee, Jeff, thanks. I would like to meet you, if possible, while I'm in West Chester, and I would certainly like to see Cresson's garden. I'm looking at it right now, as my dear friend Harland Hand gave me a copy of The American Man's Garden (he's in it, too; he also designed my garden). My mailing address is 236 West Portal Ave., #311, San Francisco, CA 94127. Thanks again.

Jeff, we must be nearly neighbors. I'm in Rosemont/Bryn Mawr right next to Villanova University. I'd love your private garden list, too. My address is 25 Meadowood Rd. Rosemont, PA 19010. Thanks. Jodi

I know I can get them from mail order places but haven't gotten around to ordering them yet. The other day I was in Waterloo Gardens in Devon (you must have been there before) and when I asked one of the workers there if they had Walls o' Water he looked at me like I was crazy. Never heard of them. Unbelievable! Serves me right for asking… they would have been way overpriced there. Anyway, how soon to you plant your tomates in the WOW's and how soon are you harvesting? Which varieties? Thanks. Jodi
