#African Violets
9 messages in this thread
Hi — I'm new to this forum. Is this the right place for African Violets
or are they somewhere else?
Hi, Leeayn…yes this is the right place. We have an African Violet file
in LIB 4, filename AFNVLT.TXT.
Are African Violets you specialty? Welcome to the Gardening Forum.
Well, they used to be until I had kids. I would love to get involved with
them again. Started new leaves not to long ago, and should have something
soon. Anyway, would like to talk to other violeteers.
hahaha, violeteers, I love it!!!
I know, you just couldn't LEAVE it alone!!!!!!! <g>
Leeayn, welcome to Gardening Forum. Yes, you are in the right place. I
don't know much about African Violets, but we've got some members who do.
What is your question?
No specific questions right now — just wondered if there was any leaf or
suplly trading or selling going on.
Hi Leeayn,
It's a new forum, so I don't know how much is going now. Maybe with luck
we'll get something worked up soon.
I don't grow much in the way of violets these days, but I do grow a bunch
of their close relatives (the broader gesneriad family). If you like
violets, you might like these other plants just as much (or even better!).
Do you grow anything from seed, or are you willing to try? And do you have
sources for your leaves or supplies? I can give you some names and
addresses of small-scale commercial operations, some of them in California.
Let me know.
Ron
I only tried violets from seed once. I was lucky enough to have them
sprout but lost them in their infancy. I really don't have any good
sources out here and would appreciate some names. Thanks.
