Steve, Putting any 2 devices together off the A1000's side port is a 'it may or may not work' situation. Because of that, there is no way to say for sure if a HD will or won't work if you have a StarBoard2. I can tell you that I know of someone who has a Xebec and a StarBoard2 and they work fine together. Also, I do not know if it will be possible (one way or the other) to boot off a HD on an A1000 even with the new 1.3, a GUESS is that it won't be possible unless you use CBM's driver and that would require the interface to act like an A2090 interface card. Again…that is strictly a GUESS, not based on any rumors or facts I've heard. Don

Yeah, I know about the flakiness of the A1000 bus. I think you're wrong about the boot off the HD for the A1000, though. It's only a question of having the right software, and since the A1000 doesn't have Kickstart in ROM, it should probably easier to have self booting HDs on the A1000 than the 2000. – Steve –

Steve, I was speaking of CBM's 'official' method of autobooting off the HD. The way I see it, it will probably require DMA access and the driver in ROM (or KickStart) so that it knows how to go out and look at the HD without hitting on a boot floppy. Since there are very few DMA HD interfaces for the A1000, that's why I suspect that it may be difficult for A1000 owner's to get it. That doesn't mean it can't be done…just my suspicions. Don
