Thanks for the welcome Howard,
I wanted to know a little about some narcissus bulbs that some friends gave
us. I downloaded BULBS.TXT and it really didn't shead the light I was
hoping for. We went and "forced" and they bloomed really nice…but then
flopped over. I kept the water level to the top of the bulb every day so I
don't think it was a loss of cellular pressure, they just got too tall.
Now they are flopped over the coffee table and I want to know what to do.
I know I could probably put em in the ground outside. We still could get
another freeze though. I don't really have a good location for them
outside anyway. What else? And when can I force them again indoors after
we buy a huge brandy snifter to do it in?

If they got too tall, how hot do you keep your house? Put them in a cold
room when you aren't actually home enjoying them…

Boy, if keeping them in cooler clim makes em grow shorter, looks like we
should have kept them outside! We are skinflints with our heatpump and the
electric bill. House thermostat stays never higher than 65 degrees. How
cold would be too cold….freezing?

Hi Scott,
When forcing bulbs, light is an important factor. After planting bulbs,
keep them in a cool, dark location to allow roots to form. Once shoots
appear, you can move them to a bright location. The floppiness could be
from a poor root system or from not enough light once the bulbs were
growing.
