Toster 2.0 loading

A quick question…
I have the standard machine from Newtek.(toaster) I bought it from
Newtek. I just recieved the upgrade and planned on loading it. The problem
is that when I try to install it …it says that I need to make about 23
megs avaible for instalation… My question is …do I have to erase the
toster(version 1) to do it???. Question 2 is…How do I go about it???
(I am used to working with DOS systems….Amiga's are a whole new way of
doing things)
Please get back to me ASAP…I want to play with my new improved toy…<g>
I too am an old PC user and it took me awhile to get the hang of the
AMIGADos What you really need to get is a file management utility somewhere
in the line of XTREE for PC-DOS. That will greatly help you in file
deletion and management. I suggest using SID or any other disk management
program. BE SURE YOU SAVE and OBJECTS to floppy…and RENAME your
FRAMESTORES 001 and 002 if they are important to you. There is a DOS-CLONE
set of utilities you can get (Shareware) and instal in your C directory
that will bring back some of the PC-DOS commands…DIR…CD and the like
…although I have orgotten the name of the utlitites. GOOD LUCK

While I am not a toaster owner I have a few suggestions for manipulating
files on the Amiga: Go to Amiga File Finder `go AmigaFF' and search for
Sid1.06.lzh, This is a directory utility that will allow you to move,
delete, copy, ect and is a very complete (but old) and easy to use program.
Or you could go to an Amiga Dealer and purchase Directory Opus (which is
even better). If you spend some time in the Amiga Forums you will find the
Amiga is a very powerful PC, other than just a host for the Toaster, there
is a plethora of useful utilities and applications (you may just find you
can sell you MSDos machine and handle most of your computing with just the
Amiga!). Us Amigans are a zeolous lot and we try to `enlighten' as many
nonAmigans as we can and the Toaster provides us with an avenue of reaching
people who would never considered our precious machine!

Mike, I don't work for Newtek, but here's what you should do. Check your
Framestore, Toasterpaint, & 3-D directories for files that you have created
since the original Toaster (1.0) installation. Back up those files onto
another format (floppies will work fine) then ERASE all those new files.
The Toaster 2.0 software will automaticly take the old Toaster software
away as it does the installation, but it won't remove files that have been
added to the system since it's original install. If you don't want to do
the back up, add another HD to your system and install 2.0 there, then
transfer your favorite frames/objects/cg books/projects over from your
original HD.
