adIDE/adSPEED problems

I just purchased the adIDE40/adSpeed combo and am having problems with the
adSpeed. I doesn't seem to work with anything in 14mhz mode, works ok
(occasionally flaky) in 7mhz. It either guru's right after switching to
1hz or locks up shortly after. I have tried booting in 14mhz (setting the
pin on the board to do so) and it guru's while loading. I have tried
running it from workbench, cli and in the stratup-sequence, all have
failed. I have tried running it with everything from games (like Red
Baron) to a generic workbench with no luck. My Amiga is running under KS
1.2, I have an external floppy, and a 2meg mini-megs expansion (I
disconnected the mini-megs and tried the adSpeed, still doesn't work). Any
help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I am doing something wrong. The
adIDE portion seems to be working just fine, no problem accessing the HD.
P.S. I even tried booting the Advantage disk that was supplied with the
hardware, it also guru's under 14mhz. HELP!
I'm running it under 2.04 and it works fine, but I'm wondering if you don't
need at least 1.3 to make it work .

wouldn't expect that adspeed requires 1.3 – 1.3 is same as 1.2 except for
autobooting. I'm about to try a similar combo and will report back ASAP.
I ran ADIDE with both 1.2 and 1.3, they have hidden in their literature
that you need 1 meg. for both products…
That certainly isn't typical behavior. I would recommend calling technical
support voice to try to step through various potential causes and narrow
down the problem.

WEll, I took the board out and re-seated it. I also installed KS 1.3 in
order to enable autobooting. I switched the jumper on the board from 1.2
to 1.3/2.0, and it now autoboots fine. I am having better luck using the
asSpeed with programs. I have found that various programs have to run
rently under the adSpeed (some load up fine in 14mhz, some load in 7mhz and
then switch to 14mhz). I still am having occasional guru's, some of these
guru's do some strange things to the computer. Several times after a guru
when the machine tried to re-boot, it would go to the HD and then the
floppy drives would start the famous Amiga drive click, however whenever it
gets to the external floppy click it guru's again. The only way it will
boot again is to either turn off the external floppy or power off then back
on the computer, really wierd. I have successfully run several games under
14mhz (Red Baron, Airwar, Their Finest Hour, Harpoon), so far the only game
that hasn't worked is Heart of China (guru's). I have also successfully
run it with DiskMaster, DirectoryOPUS, various PD utilities, and JrComm.
Although sometimes after switching to 14mhz, if I try to run something from
a cli, it will tell me that the file I tried to run is not an object
module. If I switch over to 7mhz it loads fine from cli. Does this have
something to do with whether the cli was started in 14mhz? Anyways overall
I am considerably happier with the adSpeed than I was a few days ago, and
the adIDE/HD are working just fine. Do you have any useful tips for using
the adSpeed with programs? Any definite no-no's or should do's? Thanks!
