#Organic Ag Opportunities
3 messages in this thread
Hello,
I'm a new CS user and a new member of this forum. I haven't had
much experience in ag. but I'm very much interested in
apprenticing/interning on an organic or biodynamic farm. If anyone has
ideas, addresses, any help whatsoever I would greatly appreciate it.
Right now I'm living with a friend in Chicago, but plan to head south soon
to GA.
Thanks,
Mike F.
Michael – you might try contacting the Bio-dynamic Farming and Gardening
Association (P.O. Box 550, Kimberton, Pa 19442. 215-935-7797) and ask also
about their community farms/community supported agriculture projects.
They'll be in touch with nationwide opportunities, or can refer you
further. Good luck.
Michael,
One organization that might be able to help you find apprenticeship
opportunities on biodynamic farms is the Biodynamic Farming Assocation, PO
Box 550, Kimberton, PA 19442; (215) 935-7797. The University of California,
Santa Cruz, runs an internship program in "agroecology," following the
tradition of Alan Chadwick's "intensive" philosophy (Agroecology Program,
Apprenticeship Box F, Univ. of Calif, Santa Cruz, CA 95064). I'm aware of a
few other intern/apprenticeship programs, but don't know of any in Georgia
(not to say there aren't any). One a little farther west is the Meadowcreek
Project, 1 Meadowcreek Rd., Fox, Ark. 72051; (501) 363-4500.
Hope this at least gets you started.
