Sorry Pat, I missed the beginning of the string and hence didn't know that
I was restating the original question. Am looking forward to Superplan
development.
Sometimes it helps to restate. I had downloaded a swad of messages, then
foolishly overwrote them, so I lost the first message, and didn't even know
it was gone!
We all help each other, even when we don't realize it….
BTW, isn't Whap! marvellous?

Whap! is marvellous, as is SBPro4. Would that Superplan were as
outstanding in its field.

I too, as a Superplan owner, would like to cast a vote for Superplan
support.
Superplan support (answers to technical questions, assistance with
spreadsheet problems, etc.) is available already. I assume that what you
and Rod Lucas both want is an upgrade to the program. That is on the
books, just not on the schedule yet.

If you are supporting and intend to update Superplan, are you also
SELLING it? I would be willing to buy the current incarnation and work
with it if you will be updating it. 🙂

As a relatively new Superplan owner (I've had it a week now) I'd like to
put in my vote for an upgrade. I even have some specific things it needs:
* File requesters for file access.
* Expanded formatting for cells. I'd like to be able to tell it that a
particular cell is a date, for instance.
* Better handling of labels for graphs. I'm using Superplan to generate
graphs that have dates along one access. The dates cover a thirty-day
period and the dates run together in the labels.
* More complete project planning capabilities. I wouldn't actually mind
a separate package for project planning. I need gantt, pert and
resource allocation charts.
Aside from these things, Superplan works well and I did manage to get
usable charts out of it after pushing the data around with awk on the Unix
box my Amiga is talking to.

I just hope your programmers aren't as busy as ours are.
Seriously, Superplan, as is, has proven to be very valuable in tracking
our software development efforts. I've begun to be a believer in software
metrics, and it's partly because of Superplan.

Programmers at Oxxi are ALWAYS busy… In fact, if anyone in this forum
knows of a way to clone people, they can find an eager buyer at Oxxi.

If I knew a way to clone programmers there is no way I would share it. I
need them myself <sigh>.
I discovered something else I need in SuperPlan today…batch processing,
sort of. What I want to be able to do is start SuperPlan, load a
spreadsheet and then execute an auto command or macro. It would be best if
I could do all this from the CLI. As best as I could tell, this isn't
currently possible. But I'm hoping I'm wrong and that you'll tell me as
much. Then if you told me how it's done, I'd be in business.

As far as I am aware, it is not possible to start Superplan and have an
autorun macro take over. But I'll dig into it a little, and see if I can
come up with a more definitive answer for you.

Yes, Superplan has some nice features in it… (sigh) I just wish its
features matched the wishes of the marketplace for spreadsheets a little
more closely.

My wish exactly. Still, it's doing what I need it to do now. Much
better than MaxiPlan (which I replaced with Superplan). MaxiPlan was a
good spreadsheet when I bought it, but I couldn't keep track of who was
supporting it (if anybody was) and there was no companion DMBS for it. I'm
going to buy Superbase RSN.

I would like to add a vote for decent file requesters. The difficulty in
handling files is the reason I took SuperPlan off my system and went to
Analyze! Yes, SuperPlan has much more power, but Analyze! (the spreadsheet
that was available on the 1000) did the job I wanted well enough to
overcome SuperPlan's brain dead file handling.
I have never had any use for the project planning functions of SuperPlan,
and don't see any future need for them. But I would like to see Date
Arithmetic and date handling capabilities. Gee, I would like to have
columns of dates that didn't have to be handled as alpha strings.
When I used SuperPlan, I had all kinds of trouble with graphs. The system
you use is very obscure. If I had a strong requirement for graphs, I would
still choose Analyze! Any graphs that I did create with SuperPlan would
not print on my Gemini printer, even though I have no trouble with any
other graphics printing.
