David – We would like to ship AutoCAD Release 12 sometime in our second fiscal quarter of this year, which ends July 31. This is, of course, subject to the whims of software development fate. To the best of my knowledge, there is no new product nor upgrade pricing available at this time. I believe the AutoCAD For Windows product distribution plans for Release 12 are under discussion at the moment.

Brad, You said >>I believe the AutoCAD For Windows product distribution plans for Release 12 are under discussion at the moment. << Release 12 AutoCAD for Windows? Are you sure? I thought the version soon to come was for Release 11??? Mark Scott

Mark – AutoCAD Release 11 For Windows will be shipping by the time that Release 12 386 comes out, and I thought the question was in regard to the concurrent distribution of the two products. There will be a Release 12 For Windows, of course…

Brad, Again, when did you think that Release 12 was going to be available? I didn't think that windows would be that far along… Mark Scott

Mark – I don't know when Release 12 will be ready. As I mentioned before, we have an internal goal of our second fiscal quarter of this year.

Brad, Jeez, that would be real close to Autodesk Expo in Dallas, wouldn't it? Dennis

Dennis: Can you think of a better reason to book early! Malcolm

Malcolm, Heck, I've had my travel agent watching for deals to Dallas since the first of the year. Now I've got to go trolling for roomates to help offset the cost of attending. I'm looking forward to it. Dennis

Mark: Remember that the Windows version that ships March 1 is R11, not R12. No "R12" technology is being implemented, per se. Larry

Larry, I know, that was my point to Brad Z. Mark Scott

Mark: AutoCAD for Windows Rel 11 will ship March 1st – I would bet that Autodesk (at management level, at least) is already looking at how it will market AutoCAD for Windows Rel 12, as the R12 platforms are scheduled to start shipping 3rd quarter '92. Larry

Larry – I'm watching eagerly to see whether Release 12 DOS is out before Release 11 Mac! Dave
