kevin what do think about the sony vo-9850 for a 3/4 inch frame by frame
deck for broadcast? is there anyone using this deck for broadcast?

I have only seen the Sony VO-9850 SP used for industrial video.
The BVU-950 is the usual choice for broadcast.

The only caveat I can offer on the 9850 is that it is not
constructed in a heavy duty configuration, it is basically an SP version of
the venerable 5850, but even more lightweight. It ought to work okay
mostly, just don't expect it to last as long as a 950 or produce as clean
an output.

Oh, the 9850 works ok for animation, I just don't think the quality
is really good enough for broadcast, and CERTAINLY don't think Sherwood
should spend money for one. He should be out getting a decent deck, or the
LVR/LVS.

I agree, 9850, only if he can't afford better.

I used that deck for my demo-tape but I agree with Kevin that it's probably
not up to snuff for broadcast work. I used it for cable commercials, too,
where 3/4" SP is considered standard.
