#NEC Portable CD-ROM

I have a portable CD_ROM player from NEC. Does anyone know if it can be
used as part of the Windows Multimedia Extension software. Microsoft say
NEC will provide the drivers, NEC say the drivers are part of Windows.
Very confusing …….
Will my CD-ROm work with Windows multimedia ….?

I am using my cdr 36 with Multimedia Windows and it works fine. Now all I
need is a solution to the unavailability of a sound solution to a notebook
machine! MediaVision will soon distribute a device called the Thunderport
which could solve this problem. Keep you posted.
Ken, I'm glad your NEC CDR-36 works with MM-WIN, but where did you get the
drivers? Are you using the standard driver that came with your player?

Yes I'd like some info on this too !! A couplue of companies I have spoken
to in the UK will sell Windws MME with additional kit, but I already have
an NEC CDR-45 and a COVOX II sound board. Where do I go from here ….. ??
There are MM upgrade kits that don't include the drive, but the ones I've
seen do have a sound board along with the software. It's a real problem.
I'm in the same position you are — I have a CDplayer & soundboard, but
need the MM/Windows stuff. I don't have any problems using the player on
the Mac, it's just the PC side that presents all the grief. Microsoft
seems to have some problem with satisfying their marketplace, for some
unknown reason. Ideas, anyone?
