Can I use an old IBM CGA (gennie IBM) or AMDEK 600 or a Business Land CGA Color monitor (made by magnivox) on an Amiga? Do CGA monitors not go low enough to understand the Amiga 15mhz output?

You can't use CGA monitors, allthough that is really all a CBM1080/1084 is. Reason: CGA monitors require TTL input, whereas the Amiga outputs an analog signal. Sorry!

George, Since when was CGA 4 color? But in any event, the question was simply whether a CGA monitor could be used. I certainly agree though, it would not be the prefered solution. Don

Yes, CGA 320*20 and 640*200 have a pallette of 8 colours. If memory serves me right (haven't used i CGA inyears, thank God), one can only display 4 on-screen. Could be wrong. it's been a while…..

CGA monitor can display atleast 8 or 16 colors. but in diffrent screen modes the amount of colors reduce.. Basiclly a memory/bandwidth problem since CGA card only have like 16k ram..

The most a CGA card/monitor can display is 8 colours, since there is only one bit per colour: 2*2*2=8!

You forgot the Intensity…so make that 16 colors.
