Amiga 500 Atonce emulatr

I'm trying to get some help for a friend. He has an Amiga 500 and is
attempting to use an Atonce 286 emulator board. If he puts the Atonce disk
in it will allow him to boot a dos disk and use any dos program that will
fit onto that one floppy, but that's it. To achieve even this much he must
first disconnect his Xectec Fast Track SCSI that provides extra ram and
connects his hard disk. If he attempts to use the Atonce software with his
Xectec and hard drive connected, his system locks up. He needs to be able
to access his extra ram and use his hard drive. Any help would be much

I need a little more info to find out what's the problem… Like what
version of AmigaDOS (1.2, 1.3, 2.04) and what version of the Atonce
software! It sounds like he may have AmigaDOS 2.04, and Atonce will not
run correctly with the current version of the Atonce software. I use a ROM
switcher to let me run the Atonce. BobC
Robert, Bill has Amiga Dos Version 1.3. the Atonce system disk gives
1.27 as its number though there is a readme file on the disk that says
something about being updated to version 1.28 as of March 23, 1991. His
Amiga 500 motherboard revision number is 5. There are some oddities. He
was running the Atonce from the floppy drive recently and found his monitor
suddenly blanking to a single horizontal white line on a black background
for periods and then switching back to the readme file he was reading.
This was all without any action on his part. I told him to scan for virus

Werd thing about the monitor… You might have hime check that the Atonce
board is firmly pressed into the socket, it might be a problem of an
intermittent contact, though that doughtful also, if that was it He'd have
problems on the amiga side as well. You might give him the update software
that was uploaded recently, library 14, version 2.33 I believe. The new
version doesn't fix the 2.04 bug, but it makes the Atonce more stable under
1.3. There should be no problems with his setup and the Atonce, as I had a
very similar setup until I upgraded a bit. Another thing to try, would be
to try another power supply, his might not be strong enough.

Thanks for the advice, Bob, I'll pass it along to Bill. I run an IBM clone
so I don't think I'm going to be able to help him out with software
downloaded on my machine. Though that is a question. If I pulled down
some Amiga software onto an ibm formatted floppy would his atonce board be
able to transfer the Amiga software from the dos disk to his Amiga side.
Actually I can see the answer is no as things now stand. He can't even
access his own hard drive or other floppy drive, just the measley floppy
drive that he loads the Atonce from. Adios, Gary in Washington State

The Amiga can read msdos formatted disks. If you dwonload a binary file to
a low density 720k disk, Bill could easily copy that file to his hard
drive. All he needs is either the messydos files sysytem (shareware) or
Croos-Dos or Dos-2-Dos (commercial).

for him. I'll get them to him and see if he has one of the utilities you

Have your friend call Xetec tech support. There is a problem with one of
the Xetec drivers, but Xetec will give him a patch for free. There are two
very small files that they will either send to him, or allow him to
download from their BBS. After he gets the patch, he should have no
problems.

believe it he has been noodling around on this for months on his own with
zip results. He'll be delighted!
