Betty,
I did that once on a batch of disk a long time ago. It seemed to work,
but the disks later showed signs of going bad again. This was easy for me to
notice, since it happened to a particular BRAND of disk, which I haven't
purchased SINCE.
It's better to pitch questionable disks, and stick with those of "known"
quality.
