#SBPro4

I haven't been keeping up with the SBPro4 issues lately, but I have a
problem that maybe someone else has already solved.
I was running a SBPro3 app for years without incident, switched to SBPro4
and occasionally (it happens erratically), when SB opens a a form for me,
the whole system hangs and I have to reboot. When all this happens, it
keeps happening and the only way I can get through my app is to run SBPro3
on it and then quit and then run SBPro4 and all goes well.
I tried opening a debug window, but a screen gets opened under the form and
before I can switch back to view the debug window, the system hangs up.
This doesn't happen every day. It happens maybe every 3 or 4 times I run my
app.
I'm sure I can track this down eventually, but has anyone experienced
something like this that might save me some debugging time?
-Dave
Yes, has anyone else heard about this happening? Daryn?

I currently have SB4 v 1.0 and under AmigaDos 2.04 on my 3000 it is _very_
unstable. The program frequently crashes my system.

Michael, you should have received a FREE update to version 1.01 by now.
Have you sent your registration in?

Pat,
I guess I should have mentioned that I am at v1.01 (1-Jul-91).

Pat, should I deduce from this that as I haven't got an update to v 1.01
I'm not in the database of registered users ? (I did get my v1.0 direct
from Precision as an upgrade, & I sent in the registration form, so I ought
to be in the database !).
Cheers Graham
Actually, Graham, you are not listed in the database as "Graham Walter".
Please give us a call at (310) 427-1227 if there is a different name you
might be listed under.

Pat, Thanks for quick reply. Knowing how my name ends up when it's been
copied from a card, anything from Waters to Walker wouldn't surprise me in
the least :-).
I'll E-Mail you my SuperBase serial no and address – I'd rather not phone,
as I'm based in the UK.
Cheers Graham
Pat, I am in the same boat. I sent in my registration and still have not
received an upgrade. Tim O'Connor
David,
Tell me every item, both hardware and software, in your system
configuration. I'll see if something looks fishy.

Yikes, where do I start…
When I run SBPro4 on my app, I load all my files into VD0: (ASDG-RAM drive)
and then run SBPro4 witha stack of 20000. Nothing else is really running at
the time. As I said, everything worked perfect for years with SBPro3. I'll
try to narrow it down a little, but it happens so infrequently.
Hardware? A2000, A2620, 5 megs ram, Hardframe controller, Quantum drive,
A2088 bridgeboard, A2320, etc. Pretty much all OEM stuff.
-Dave
Thanks, Darin — BTW, can I blame line noise for mis-spelling your name?

Pat,
I am having a small problem with transaction lines on a very simple file
I am trying to put togeher for our users group. I am trying to use 2 sets
of transaction lines on the same form. I have 3 files: Members, equipment,
software. The form uses Members as the base link to equipment and software.
The first transaction lines work fine, ie I enter all member info, (page 1)
then I go to the 1st set of transactions (page 2) `Software' with 2 fields
to enter the members area of software expertise, but if I don't fill all
the TAs it tries to save the form from there without going to the next set
of TAs (page 3) Equipment. If I try to manually click in the 2nd set of
TAs I get a requestor stating ".sbf DOS can't open file". I have tried
adding a hidden command button with the command "SELECT FORM NEXT PAGE"
also tried "IF title.software = "" then SELECT FORM NEXT PAGE ELSE ENTER
peripheral.equipment, after the 1st set of TAs bu all with the same
results. I know this is something trivial but I have been working on this
for 2 days. Does SBPro 4 support 2 sets of TAs on the same form? I
couldn't set these up on the same page so I have it broken into 3 pages.
Can you see anything immediately that I am doing wrong?

I'll have to do some research on this and get back to you. Meanwhile, if
Darin pops in from SPC, you might get an answer from him if he's
encountered this specific problem before.
Superbase will not support two transaction blocks on one form. You
can use multiple forms each with their own transaction block, though,
and load and switch between them.
Thanks, Darin…
