Jeff, I would buy in a second a book on 3ds that covered things that are not covered buy the manual. some thing that gets in to the materials more and more in depth in the area of some of the 3d-editor commands. like an intermediate to advanced type book. I'll go take a look for your book. Do you know if its at B.Dalton's ?

Greg: It *was* at the "larger" B.Dalton's. New Riders recently ran the second printing, so it is probably available again. I think you'd appreciate the book a good deal, but I have to give Michele Bousquet the credit for the 3DS and Animator half. Michele is currently on a whirlwind World Tour <g>. Phil Shatz might be able to give you a clue to her current whereabouts. Personally, I love working in 3DS, but still rely more on AutoCAD for my modeling. I guess old habits die hard.

Hi, i just started reading this message and was wondering if you could list the titles and authors of books on 3ds. I have been to Mcgraw-hill and Bdalton's in Midtown manhattan with no luck…nobody has even heard of 3ds. Thanks

Vahid: New Rider's Publishing has one out… but it doesn't have 3DS in the title… it's something like 'Designing and Presenting with Autodesk'… C#

Craig, Vahid: Actually, the title is "AutoCAD 3D Design and Presentation." It's about 1/2 AutoCAD, 1/2 presentation. The presentation half deals with hands-on techniques for using 3D Studio and Animator Pro. Most bookstores should be able to order it for you, or you can get it directly from New Riders Publishing at 1-800-541-6789. Regards, Jeff Hester co-author

As Jeff Hester suggested, I believe (and he may have a particular interest here), you should call New Riders Publishing. There orders/customer service line is (800)541-6789.

Greg – according to Jeff, a second printing is imminent, so it should be back on the shelves soon. FWIW, it's a *really* good book! One of the things I like most about it is that it uses different programs to do the same job — so you can get a really good sense of each program's capabilities. Dave
