VIPER PCI
4 messages in this thread
Folks,
I'm sure you're well aware of the problems in using 3ds with the
knew Viper PCI bus card, Gus Grubba said that Vibrant was working on
the fixes already but…. 3ds is almost unusable on my system until I
get those updates. Question 1: What is the best possible way to set
up 3ds in the meantime? 2:When will those new drivers be out? (I'm
looking for specifics here, not "Some time in Febuary.." stuff.) This
is @#$^ing me up in a major way, so anything you can suggest would be
most appreciated.
Thanks
Tim Miller
For now, set up your PCI Viper card as a VESA device, and use the Vibrant VESA
drivers to access it. With some luck, the new Vibrant vib3ds.vlm file will be
available within a couple of weeks. (Right, Brian?)

This VESA driver supports games like Flight Simulator 5 and Links/386 Pro.
Also included is an utility to setup & center video modes.
You can register this version on CI$ in the SWREG forum under number 1691.

Tim,
The simplest way is to add "C:\VIPER\VPRMODE VESA" into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file,
and then use the VESA options in 3DS VIBCFG. I have run my Viper (VL Bus) this
way and it works fine.
