Designjet 600 Drivers
4 messages in this thread
Does anyone know how to plot 3dstudio 2.0 to Designjet 600 plotter?
Printing to a DesignJet will probably not be as easy as: Use the ADI
driver for 3DS which comes with the DesignJet. (I know that a 3DS
ADI driver came with the DesignJet 650c, but that it didn't work.)
Assuming that you will not be able to successfully print from 3DS
directly to the DesignJet, you will probably have to create a Targa
or GIF file and print with that. I don't know which format the
DesignJet supports, however. If it's PostScript, check out Kevin

Title: Targa to Color PostScript conversion utility
Keys: TARGA COLOR POSTSCRIPT PRINT 3DS
Targa to PostScript conversion utility, by Kevin Krell. This one's
faster, about 1 minute on a 386/25. Still limited to 512x486x24-bit, no
palette (3D Studio image, basically), uncompressed .TGA. Prints 10" x
7.5" w/.5" margins on letter size paper. Approx. 16k unZIPped. Tested on
Tektronix printers. For best results on Tek, use 80-line screen, enhanced
or premium quality, black substitution. Please send comments/requests! .
.(Approximate download time at 2400 baud using CIS B+ is 0:39)
You might find that a paint program (preferably Windows-based) will handle
printing to your printer. Also, you might find a utility for GIF -> DesignJet
in the GO GRAPHSUPPORT forum (or check HP's forum).
Nik
Stuart,
The windows drivers that ship with the Designjet plotter are very good. If you
save your renderingtoa TGA or GIF file, you can then use any Windows program
that will import TGA or GIF images to output to the Designjet. Windows does all
the work.

Stuart,
The DesignJet has a Windows driver – I suggest using that (print from
Photoshop or another Windows application). Also, my utility was fixed to a
particular print and image size – I believe there is something else in the
forum libraries that is less fussy.
