I have that accellerator too and you can use three drives that I know of
for sure: Quantum Pro 40mb or 80mb (the original) and Seagate ST157A 44mb.
I am currently using a Q-Pro40 and ST157A on my A2000 as GVP3001 drives
right now. The Quantums are faster but getting hard to find.
I think you can access the drives without the autoboot rom, just can't
boot off them. I haven't tried that configuration but GVP tech once
instructed me to remove the rom so we could reformat the drive when the
boot block was hanging up so obviously they are accessible. The board
itself is very reliable if a bit limited these days.

Thanks for the info on the 3001. My board has 4 empty sockets around
the IDE connector, I'm not sure what goes into those, but I might
need more that just the autoboot rom. Sounds like too much trouble
for not much storage!

You call 200mb not too much storage (Western Digital Piranha)? But those
are labeled rom chips on my board, looks like, so you are probably right
about it not working for you. Too bad but a 68030/mmu @ 28mhz and 68882
with 8mb of 32bit ram is still worth having. Check the response here from
GVP to me about the types of drives known to work on the 3001.

Tom, Ok, 200mb isn't small potatoes!! Too bad about not being able to get
those IC's. I could copy them if GVP didn't mind and I could find a local
board!
