Leon, I am coming in late on this, so I haven't read the start. I am assuming
that it has to do with the update for the Beta Customers. Thank you for the
Xmas Present. I was going to drop Benchmark for C (probably Lattice), but will
now stick it out.
So now, what about modules that support dBase III (or IV) similar in concept to
those offered by Lattice. What about an improved Console I/O package with
windows, menus, etc. ? (There is a package for FTL modula in the CPM forum [or
at least was] that I wrote. This could be a starting base) How about a color
package similar in concept to Dougs Color Commander. There is a whole world of
modules out there for those of use who are too lazy to write our own. That is
the major advantage of Modula-2, reusable (and saleable) software that is much
cleaner than C. The promise of Ada in a usable language.
I recently got ARexx, and was glad to see that you have Arexx interface modules
with the package. Good move.

Hi Bill:
I am glad to hear that you are using Benchmark Modula-2! I will now try to
answer the questions you have posed in your msg. I plan to release additional
tools for use with Benchmark Modula-2 in the future and I am sure there will be
additional tools from other vendors which will support Benchmark. Currently
there are several third party products which work with Benchmark: PowerWindows
2.5, InovaTools 1, MetaScope, LDebug, AREXX… From Avant-Garde Software:
Simplified Amiga Library, C Language Library, IFF & Image Resource Library.
The Simplified Amiga Library implements the modules which you are interested in
Console, Menus, Gadgets, etc. In addition the hundreds of demo programs which
come with the package have among them a color-requester module it's called
SetColors and is part of the Mondrian demo program. The only item that you
mentioned not found in the available modules is a DBase file reader, but this
probably has something to do with DBase not being available for the Amiga. I
do have a complete database development package which was ported from another
system, but after doing some preliminary market research I had to put in on the
shelf, due to a lack of market for such a product. I hope I have answered most
of your questions, but, if not I will be happy to try again :-).

Leon – If CA is really working on business users the way they say are, it may
improve the market for a DBase/RBase type application considerably. It may be a
good idea not to let that database gather too much dust. BTW, cudos for your
decision on beta user support.
