#Virtual Memory?

Anybody know if there's a virtual memory program in any of the libs? I searched my catalogs under virtual, memory, and RAM but couldn't find anything. Also, does anyone know if virtual memory will work with Lightwave (given that it would slow down)? Thanks in advance, Kent Lidke Helo Pilot on AutoPilot

Very wet, very very wet, cold miserable, shitty and anything else you can think of. Roll on summer. Apart from that Kent, everything is fine 🙂 Yes you do need an 030, or maybe even an 020 if it has an mmu built in. I use an A3000 and for the most part Gigamem works fine. Some progs don't seem to like much. Propage for example. Pagestream is fine. No it doesn't require a partition as such not that I remember anyway. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry

You really want a partition, though. If you are swapping sometime near when you crash, you may scrag the partition with the swap file. Not good unless you have a dedicated partition for the swap file. — Dale L. Larson, Intangible Assets Manufacturing — INTERNET:dale@iam.com

In AmigaTech Forum … VVM.LHA VMM40 v1.0b implements a virtual memory manager for the A4000/40, it should also run on other Amigas with a 68040 processor (untested). In this version, paging is only supported to a dedicated partition. A nice GUI to enter all parameters and to disable certain tasks and load files from using virtual memory is also provided. Steve, Thanks for the steer. VVM may help on my 4000. Unfortunately, my current problem is my 2000/030. Lightwave scenes which fit into 2.0 (barely), run out of memory under 3.1.
