#BB problem/help

I have an Amiga 2000HD with a GVP G-Force 030. It has 5 Meg of
32-bit memory on it. Since I also have 7 Megs of 16-bit
autoconfigure memory, I had to pull a jumper on the GVP accelerator
board to map the 5 Meg higher in the address space as extended
memory. When I initially forgot to do this, my system had trouble,
too. Quite obviously, the extra 5 Meg conflicted with the
bridgeboard. Once I pulled the jumper as described in the GVP
manual, the system worked fine!

thanks for the reply re my BB problems. I think its time for me to
start over and not assume anything, although I am positive I have the GVP
memory configured as EXTENDED. I could be wrong and anyway I will try both
ways just in case I'm reading the manual wrong!
My GVP is a "A2000-COMBO33/4MB" although as I noted in the original
message it is now 8meg (and I need more.) The problem occurs with the
Harddisk connected via the GVP, because they said it would be better! and
then I get the write errors although no error messages occur, its only
when I try to read back the file (say Startup-sequence) that the garbage
ceated can be seen. It is as you can imagine a real problem. Some small
files did/do wrtie ok, larger files get corrupted 99% of the time, and I
have noticed that the last few hunder or so bytes are ok? It is a weird
problem.
I just find it difficult to find the time to experiment, a 5minute
testends up taking a couple of hours with the potential to corrupt the
whole disk (probably not, but I can't be sure.) I will just have to bite
the bullet and redo all the testing.

I get the impression that you have another controller in your system.
If your harddrive works with it, then I suggest using that controller.
The same suggestion to switch the harddrive from the A2091 to the G-Force
030 was also made to me. I ignored it because it 'wasn't broke' the way
it is now. (And I'm basically lazy with other things to do,too.)
Eventually, a used and bigger drive went on the G-Force, but the system is
still configured to boot from the A2091 drive since I could, if I wished,
use the GVP utility GvpCpuCtrl to boot the system without the accelerator
and its drive active. In other words, I can boot it into the 68000 mode
should I happen across a program that can be used from a nonbooting
diskette and doesn't understand '030 and its MMU. (I bought the G-Force
030 with an MMU.)
The earlier GVP 3001 accelerator can't be mapped around the BB memory.
Steven D. Kapplin 70055,1021 can verify that! I'm not familiar with the
COMBO. Is it the old name for the G-Force? If so, then you want its
memory to be extended.
