Hi again Ewan. I am currently running MSS's BBS-PC 4.04. It's got a few
problems but after seeing it run, I can say that you'll want to supply more
than 9 areas. I have 16 from BBS-pc and that's not enough! Mostly cause each
computer I'm supporting has it's own section. You'll want to allow the sysop
set up all the menus and prompts if possible, it's one complaint I've had
from my first users (BBS-PC is one of a kind in my area, and nobody can
understand the prompts when they first see them [they're actually easy, but
confusing at first sight], and BBS-PC won't let you make up your own prompts
except at the bottom of menus. This feature would help for sysops with
imagination, say setting up a bbs based on magic, like C: Cast message spell
for READ, or something like that, but not being able to have P: Pour on the
elixir for more, to see the next message (all you get with BBS-PC is (RE UA
T): or something similar. Let me know if you want to bash heads on this one,
as I'm just setting up and bugging MSS about all the little probs… Bye for

I don't know how far you have gone into the BBS-PC! But I am running it also
and it has the most powerfull reconfiguring of menus I have ever seen on a
BBS. You basicly have 111 function call which are all standard BBS functions
Read Message, Write Message, ect. You write your own menus using any key to
want adding text anywhere you want and have any key call any function from
any menu level (Thats a lot of 'Anys'!) Then you actually compile the menus
using a supplied program (BBSMENU). You can even have a separate set of
menus for each type of computer using there custom character sets and
graphics! Very Powerfull. There is a local board here, the Dreamscape BBS
(619-755-2863) which runs on the Amiga and uses th{ exact same menus/commands
as Compuserve including a separat{ SIG for each Computer. Its quite neat.
