Z-100 AutoCAD ports

Dale, look in the Installation Guide at the beginning of Chapter 5,
"Digitizer Options". It only describes ports A & B, and the differences in
pin configuration between them (special cabling may need to be done if you're
having problems here).
Apparently only two ports (A & B) are supported, even though your machine has
four. I don't know of a way to "patch" this. I guess if it says to enter A or
B, that means to enter A or B (not a hex address)! When you enter A or B,
does it work? Or are you trying to use one of the other ports? Perhaps an
inexpensive switch box may be the ticket. =SM=
You're right; only two of the six (not four) serial ports seem to be
supported. This is what I'm trying to get around (EVERYONE'S software always
wants to be installed on the first two ports!) – a switch box is a
possibility, but I'd prefer to find something a bit more elegant. Is it not
possible to find the location in the overlay file that holds the address of
the port? All the other ports are identical in hardware and configuration;
only the address differs.

Welllll, the address of the port is located in the ACAD.CFG file, not the
overlay file – if you want to dive in there with Debug, go for it, but I'm
afraid I can't offer any assistance on that. I just don't have the
information and also, it's a little beyond the scope of our support. Perhaps
another Forum member has done this and can help?
To me, a switchbox IS elegant. Maybe you could trade in a couple serial cards
for one? <grin> =SM=
