ACAD & HP LJ II Drawing

For some time now I have been using ACAD with a Hewlett Packard LJ II, creating the drawings on 8.5 x 11.0 inch paper and then visiting my local photocopy place and simply expanding them to 11 x 17 inches for submittal to building departments, etc. where the need arises. Has anybody done the same? And, if so, to what degree have you experienced loss of "scalability" of the drawing (i.e. to what extent does the photocopy cause distortion of scale). The other interesting exercise I have found is where to plot the origin (lower left corner) on a 8.5 x 11 inch drawing so as to most properly center the drawing, which produces a symmetrical enlargement. This has been much trial and error. Does anybody have some time-tested secret formulae they would be willing to share?

We use an LI2000 laser printer which has built in HPGL emulation and we have written a C program to take an 11by17 HPGL file for the HP 7475 and print two 8X11's out to the laser printer. We will soon be getting in an HPlaser jet and are planning on getting the Laser plotter software by insight development to see if we can't do the same type of thing on the HP laser II. Give us a call in a couple of weeks if you're interested in this program. voice 515-296-9914 data 515-296-9916. The name is Dave Sly from CIMTECHNOLOGIES CORP. in the Research Park at ISU.
