Looks like SlideManager has some competition! Anybody seen the add
in the latest CADalyst for SLD/Librarian from Nuendorf Systems (Page 67 I
think)? Appears to have much the same functions as SlideManger (No support
for Herc or 8514 though, and no .DXF facility or slide version conversion,
at least not mentioned in their add) and sells for $200! Anybody seen this
program? Has it got anything that makes it worth $175 more than
SlideManager? Any comments? Any Hope?
How can anything that can't do DXF and is priced as shareware, compete? I
haven't seen the program, but after ON-Line today runs your add, they won't
stand a chance! <grin> Jamie
Sending a copy to CADalyst as well… Maybe I can get them to do a
review! Gonna try to get some more publicity for this thing and see if it
can compete with the "big guys"! Thanks for the good word <grin>!
Look at what has come from this little adventure into C, imagine if you did
this full time??? Have you gone down the ACAD BBS list and planted SLDMGR
in other soils? You could even put some slides in with it. Perhaps I will
start the ball rolling. Putting slides on the forum. This way people
without AutoCAD, Shade and Sketch can play with your program.
I dropped it on a couple of boards… I should do more of that. I
also thought of throwing in a slide or two but decided the .ARC was a big
enough file to download already. I'll reconsider that though so that
people can get it up and running right out of the package without have to
go fire up that big old CAD program again… Maybe just one slide – a logo
type thing or something… Good ideas Jamie, thanks!
If your really serious about the other BBS why not send them a disk with a
the stuff on it. I keep all the uploads on our BBS offline until I have a
chance to check the even if i Think I know who u/l'ed them. Besides the cost
of a disk and the mail would be cheaper and in our case get you out to the
world much faster because I could be surer of where it came from. Just so
you know we have caught a couple of Trojan Horse being uploaded to our BBS
one of them came in looking like an upload from a person whom I'd seen on CIS
but who had never signed on our system before and who was as shocked about it
as I was.

As a fellow sysop (The ToolBox 617-364-2474), our trojan horse
experiance is quite different. We test everything as well but have never
found any damaging programs (quit a few that didn't work though). I detest
the hassle of mailing – I'd much rather upload. To me, it's a much more
direct means of transfering information. In fact, I'll try to log onto
your BBS one day soon and send you SlideManager! Thanks for the comments!

unfunny people who are fairly serious about seeing how much damage they can
cause as well as being reasonably good programmmers. Please feel free to
