Thank you so much for the response to my question on the HP laser printer. I
also read the messages from Khalid Aldoseri and I will be sure to get his
program and certainly look forward to the update.
I can see that you are enthusiastic about your purchase and I think I may
just get the HP instead of the Postscript printer (or and HP+ emulating
printer such as the C. Itoh or even Epson). Before I do purchase, however,
I've decided to rent one for a week to see if it will fit my needs.
I've seen the output from Pagemaker on Tandy's laser printer and I am quite
satisfied with it. I did note, however, that the bit-mapped graphics were
not as smooth as they could have been. The fonts and layout, etc. were just
fantastic, though, and I'm looking forward to getting similar results on my
Amiga (hoping that is).
I am looking forward to this experimentation and I will let you know of the
outcome.
The more I use the HP, the more I like it. By the way, the Workbench 1.3
printer drivers have an anti-aliasing option that'll smooth out the Amiga
Fonts for laser output. However, even unsmoothed, there are so many
beautiful Amiga fonts available and they all look much better on the HP.
By the way, as for going for the HP-alike, I have one thing to say. I did
a lot of shopping for this printer and I heard, 'It's as good as the HP'
so many times, I decided to get the real thing, and I'm not sorry. The
design of the machine is perfect. Check out what it takes to change
cartridges on the Epson or the C. Itoh. Check out what other maintenance
is required for these machines, then check out the all-in-one, neat
replacement procedure for the HP. Oh, and check out the life expectancy of
these competitors; it's in the specs. Most of them are rated from 3-7
years. On the HP, it's indefinate.
