Has anyone had this problem? I'm running R3 on a DX2/66 with 64 Megs o'RAM and a Diamond Stealth 24 video card. In the middle of rendering, while refreshing the screen after rendering, or just when the computer is sitting idle, my video goes either black and white verticle bars or it goes completely grey and the computer is hung (gotta hit reset). I haven't tried the Panacea drivers yet, but that is next. Does Vibrant support the Stealth 24? All I see references for are the VRAM and PRO models. Any help would be appriciated, Spencer Lindsay Atari Games I-NET: lindsay@agames.com

Spencer, I have a Stealth 24 on one of my machines and choose the S3 option (forget which processor – you can look at the card itself) and it works OK, but not flawlessly. It leaves mouse trails (or mouse droppings?) behind the cursor. No behaviour like you described though.

> choose the S3 option < I admit brainlessness,… S3 option? Do I find this in the config software for my Stealth card or in the vibrant setup utility? Don't you wish you could just #@$%&*!! Animate without having to be a rocket scientist?? Thank's for any help you can offer,.. Spence.

Spencer, The ISA version of the Stealth24 uses the S3 801 chip, and the VLB version uses the S3 805 chip. Alot of graphics boards from different vendors use the newer S3 chips (the 801, 805, and 928) and usually the drivers are interchangeable among the boards/chips. If you see mouse droppings, try increasing the wait state of the graphics board. I think there is a dip switch for this. It should be in the manual. Bailey

Martin, Re: mouse droppings The most common cause of these mouse droppings is that you are running your graphics board with too few wait states. If there is a dip switch that lets you set the wait state, try increasing it (probably from 0 ws to 1 ws). Bailey

I recently have seen this mouse droppings on some drivers/ cards combinations. In a card that does not have any settings for wait states how does one correct this?
