Help!!! Every time I try to perform a Boolean function with a square plate and a piece of text, my machine reboots…… <sigh> Does anyone have any suggestions. 3DS R3, 486 DX2/66, 32MB ram….. ] I'm NOT happy!!! Patrick Malone 70461,3646

If you have another machine to try this on, do that first. If the problem doesn't happen on the other machine, then we'll have to look at your first machine's hardware. If it does happen, send me the file and I'll tell you exactly what's going on with it (zip it up and send it to me via binary email). – G

It will be a week or so before I can get to another machine with 3ds… The text font I was using was REAL complex. I tesselated the $#%@ out of the "plate" an was able to do one small piece at a time. The letter E was 4 pieces and there were 11 pieces of text <It will take forever like that> I'll get back to you as sson as I try it out somewhere else…. Thanks….

Patrick, How about making a circle object in the shaper with your text inside of it and then loft it. You should be able to get the text cut out of the plate that way without having to do the boolean operation your having trouble with. If it needs to have an embossed and not just punched out look you can put a back on the object.
