how about a Pentium screamer – in other words a 10-processor Pentium system, along the lines of Newtek's Screamer (10? Mips R4400 chips), which would be compatible with 3d Studio. All for <=$10,000.

Just a quick note; the Screamer press release specs only 4 MIPS R4400A chips, not 10…..still very fast though….Use 4 486's/Pentium's and 3DS network rendering, should be pretty quick for about the same amount of money. By the way, the Screamer's approx. $10,000 list price is less RAM, and you will want plenty.
