Does anyone know if its possible for the PCMCIA slot to be utilized to add
a multi I/O card or to add a unit that would give a Zorro II slot so that
one of the exhisting A2000 cards could be used? Obviously some company
would have to build something like these, if it is possible in the first
place. I'd love two more serial ports for another modem and an easyl,
plus two more parrallel ports for my scanner and another printer (I hate
looking at switch boxes <G>.

I know of a single serial port card for the PCMCIA (Amigo Business Comp. PCMCIA
Dual Serial Adapter) Also, the current AW talks about NakeD 1200 which allows
the addition of 2 Zorro II cards, but I would assume those to be belly cards.
I contacted the manufacturer of the NakeD 1200, it really isn't suited for
my needs since it really isn't a complete package, you have to build the
housing for the cards and I don't think I would be able to use my A1230+
or A1291 SCSI with it, at least thats what the person I talked to said.

Build a housing? Won't a regular PC case work?
Also in this month's AmigaWorld was an article on a company that has 3 pretty
intriging products. (Actually 2 and a half). A case for the 500 and 1000
which adds Zorro2 compatibility. (I assume a keyboard as well) and a video
adapter that will allow a VideoToaster to be connected to any Amiga system.
(Although it requires some extensive wiring I beleive.)
I digress… it seems as though A1200 expansion boxes of the same nature,
allowing for external keyboards and card usage can't be far behind…. if they
ever get enough Plus 4's, er, I mean A1200's on the market to support it's
development…. (Sorry, it's a shot I had too take….)
The February issue of AmigaWorld mentions lots of PCMCIA boards which are or
will be released. The 'PCMCIA Dual-Serial Adaptor' by Amigo Business Computers
will add one serial port. I have not seen this board being sold by anyone yet,
nor do I know of any dual-port or parallel port cards. Also mentioned: GVP is
to release a 16-bit sound card for PCMCIA, while a bigger rumour is that the
Emplant board is being re-designed for the PCMCIA slot. Keep an eye out…

The Emplant might be a compromise since it doesn't sound like anyone is
working on what I really want. Plus I'm feeling like I need a notebook
for work and since it doesn't look like Commadore will ever make one, I
might get an Apple Powerbook at the end of the year. With the Emplant I
could then have a desktop Mac to interface with the Powerbook and
hopefully trade files easily with the A1200.
I thought about getting a PC clone notebook, but after setting one up for
my stepfather I decided I don't what to have anything to do with DOS or
Windows if I can help it <G>.
