I am ready to get a new video card to replace the cheep external NTSC
converter I have now. However, I have had no luck finding good
info. I am using a SONY EVO9650 with DiaQuest DQ232 from 3DS and
need to get a card that will send good true color images to it. I
thought the Truvision TARGA+32 was what I needed but conflicting
stories have me stumped. >>Does the TARGA+32 put out an NTSC signal?

The targa+ 32 is the minimum card to get for your purpose and probably
is a good match for your recorder. The targa + series has composite
and Y/C video in and out and does not need an external encoder as did
the old targa 24 (non +) type boards. The ATVISTA is a higher end
board offering higher resolution and a better quality signal output
but needs an encoder to get standard video signal protocol
(composite, Y/C, component) from the RGB output. It's total cost is
quite a bit more than the targa+. If you had the budget for the
ATVISTA, in my opinion, you probably wouldn't see the difference on
the 9650 deck over the targa+
The TARGA+ boards do output exellent NTSC video. You will still need a VGA to
boot your system and for 3DS. 3DS outputs most of its screens, menus etc to
VGA, only rendering the final image to the TARGA
Ken, the Targa 32+ will work very well and is probably the best choice
for the money. Yes there are better cards at higher resolution the
Illuminator Pro and the New ATVista, but you're probably not going to
notice the difference on the EVO. The price difference is significant
also.
Yes you will still need a VGA, no you won't need any adapters, and yes
the Targa outputs to NTSC as well as RGB and SVHS.

The Targa is what you need and it so happens I got one I no longer need. It's a
Targa 64+ with all manuals, cables (they are extra), software and drivers.
