I'd love to see a scrolling list of logical volumes. The list was also clutter for me, with a half-dozen obscure ASSIGNs I do in my startup sequence, for programs I rarely use. Know what I'd love to see in an editor's file requester? A simple way to jump between two directories. Entering full pathnames in CED's requester gets to be a pain, because it's not "hot." I have lots of files in several levels deep, so it takes a long time just to go up a directory and down another. Perhaps something like a temporary ASSIGN is what I'm looking for.

What do you mean it is not “hot''. Actually it is. You can toggle between the file gadget and the drawer gadget at will with Shift-Return. About the new file requester…come over my house sometime…I'll show it to you.

Hot as in Charlie's requesters. 🙂 I don't like to wait for all those ExNext()s to take place, before I can click on a name in the list of files. It would be nice if they appeared as they were delivered. Also, it would be great if it could leave itself at the place I left it: If I've got a directory of 50 files, and I'm editing the 'zzzxx.c' file, I always have to scroll back down to the bottom to get that file.

Those are some of MY favorite complaints. Also, I wish programs would remember the directory if they just read it and I haven't changed directories in the meantime. You know, DPaint does THAT.

As I said…the next CygnusEd Professional file requester has all that and more. It is one of the very best I've ever seen. Perry

Hi Stranger! Happy New Year to ya. Are you still in So. Cal? or have you managed to move to the Intermountain west? (like Ben?) 73, bill
