Don, In reference to your reply to Bill Forcade about expanded memory with
Transformer, I am using the Insider as expansion RAM successfully with
Transformer. To get it to work use ADDMEM C00000 C9FFFF in your 1.1
startup, and change your Transformer preferences for 640K. Dave
I've tried that, and it doesn't work…Transformer comes up saying I have
23K allocated to MS-DOS. Which leads me to believe that there may be
several versions of Transformer out there…mine was one of the first off
the line (it is the production version…not one of the beta versions that
was floating around before the release). Also, by doing that, you are
adding 640K, but the manual says you have to add 1Meg to allow Transformer
to use a full 640K. This is interesting thou…I'm going to try an
experiment tonight and see if I can get it to work using Transformer and a
different WB disk. Right now, I've got it on a separate WB disk with
nothing but Transfomer related files on it…no libraries, etc. That may
make a difference when it comes to expansion memory…but it does work just
fine in a std machine or a machine with no AddMem'ed memory.
With wb1.1, Transformer and 1meg Insider I have gotten up to 720k to show
up in MSdos (Toshiba 2.11 for portable). Use chkdsk to confirm how much
mem you have in MSdos. Try different values with Addmem before running
Transformer. If you add too much the MSdos boot will ffail. Fix for Trans
and Wb1.2 does not seem to work even if I turn the extra memory off.

auto-configs as you can't control how much configs and the way Transformer
comes up…it takes out all other programs and rebuild's it's memory list
so the full expansion RAM suddenly becomes available to it even if you use
a software switch to turn it off. I just wish CBM would get off their duff
and release the 1.2 version of transformer. It does properly work with
expansion memory and also fixes a few bugs.

You must be right about there being multiple versions of Transformer out
there, as I indicated proviously, the addmem of 640K works fine with my
copy. Mine won't work if I add more, but with the 640K added I can get a
