Has Tandy released a tech note on the serial commands used for their portable
disk drive? It runs on the serial port at 19200, which means to me that it
could be attatched to other computers. I haven't been reading the M100
magazines lately, and my M100 is getting dusty, but this question has been
nagging me for a while. I'd like to read and write files with this drive to
my AT and Amiga. Is there a commercial product like this?
The Tandy PDD is really a Brother product so if you want Technical info you
should contact BROTHER. I do not believe that info is available to the
public except for what the 'hackers' have discovered and shared.
You can use the PDD with an AT by using Traveling Software's LAPDOS II.
This retails for $129.95 and includes the necessary cable.
There is a MACDOS II for use with the Macintosh but I do not know of a DOS
for the Amiga.

No, Tandy has not released such information. Check the file CMDS01.TDD in
Library 9 for relevant information. Obviously if a "DOS" can be written for
other computers which will drive the Tandy/Brother Portable Disk Drive, it
can be done for "any" computer.
