Yes, I agree with all of that. If compatibility between Amiga and popular
IBM and Mac applications became commonplace, and if Amiga programs
themselves could share CAD and DTP data as easiy as they share bitmaps,
then Commodore could even >advertise< (what?!) the unique qualifications of
the Amiga as a super business machine. It already combines the versatility
of a command-line OS with the user-friendly graphical interface of the Mac,
and it's got the bridgeboard option.
IBM and Mac programs now suffer from general lack of any compatibility. If
Amiga software provided multiple-standard compatibility (i.e. import and
export), then the Amiga would quickly become a standard fixture in every
shop that now uses PC's and Macs. It wouldn't replace them right away, but
it would definitely be much more popular. And that has a snowball effect.

(Clapping hand over my mouth) Oh, I didn't realize I was using filthy
five-letter words. Hmmm. Amiga is also a five-letter word. But if you
combine the two, you get an interesting result. By putting Amiga first, you
get the word Ample. But by putting the fruit word first, you get the (almost
a word) "Apiga". Mean anything to you? It's late again.
