I am new to using VTR's with Sony Dynamic Tracking. The machines are BVU-820 U-Matic editors. Will TBC's, such as the DPS TBC IV, work properly with my decks? Nobody seems to know how the Dynamic Tracking will effect the performence of the TBC's. Some people have hinted that DT machines require highly specialized TBC's, such as the Sony BVT-800, and others have said that the TBC IV cards should work fine. Does anyone have an answer based on actual experience using Sony BVU-820's? The edit controller is a Sony BVE-30 and the time code in use is VITC.

About DT machines and TBCs…. I would say that most of the "professional" do not have a full frame TBC like the DPS IV board. It will absolutely "fix" your DT machine. Geir Molstad, FAMO as, Fax +47 22357797

Geir, I'm not sure i'm interpreting your meaning of "fix" correctly. Unless you state otherwise, I'll assume that the TBC IV cards will work properly when the BVU-820's are in the Dynamic Tracking mode of operation. Nobody at DPS can answer my question with any certainty. Have you ever actually tried DPS TBC IV's with Dynamic Tracking decks? Alan Wolney 72615,256

As of fix, i mean that it will lock on the correct horisontal and vertical sync edge. It will however depend on your way to connect up everything, i mean do you have a sync generator for locking up your machines or do you lock on your player? If you have sync out on the editor it will maybee depend on that. I havent tried the DPSIV because its not made in PAL yet but the DPS II made my problem go away, and i don't think DPS have made an DPSIV less capable. Geir Molstad, FAMO as, Fax +47 22357797

Geir, Thanks for your vote of confidence on DPS products. Will probably try the TBC IV's. Thanks!! Alan Wolney 72615,256

Alan, I'm using two TBC IVs with my PVW machines. The 2650 has DT and I've never experienced any trouble at slower or faster frame rates. Dusty Powers East Bay

Dusty, Thanks for the information on the TBC IV's. Considering the other replies that I have recieved, The DPS TBC's look like they will work well for my needs. Specialized TBC'S, such as the Sony BVT-800, must have been required prior to infinate window technology. How would you rate the TBC IV's on overall performence? Any problems] Your decks are the new Betacam Sp models from sony? What tape directions and speeds does your DT work in? Thanks for your help! Alan Wolney 72615,256
