Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to change the screen mode
in AutoPilot. I have the demo version and I would possibly like to
use this to access CompuServe but the Interlace flicker is
irritating. I am using an Amiga 1200. If anyone out there using
AutoPilot has any other info I would appreciate it. Dale Oestreich

The third menu selection of AP's main menu is "ScreenMode", and lists
"Modes Available" as a sub-menu.
Selecting "Modes Available" opens a screenmode requester that allows you
to select any of the screenmodes found in the "DEVS:Monitors" drawer, or
any monitor driver opened after bootup.
If you don't have any monitor drivers in the DEVS:monitors drawer, no
screenmode request will be made available.

AutoPilot is meant to work on an Interlace screen. By choosing colors
carefully, you can reduce the pain of the flicker considerably. At the
moment, my good monitor is broken and I'm having to use an old one that
doesn't work with the flicker-fixer, but I barely notice the flicker with
the colors I'm using. Low-contrast helps a great deal. There are some
files in Library 9 of AmigaVendor giving color schemes that some other
users are finding satisfactory.

I'm using Autopilot on a hires non-interlaced screen. I have found in the
past that however much I fiddle with the colours, interlace flicker is
still annoying. This might be because British Amigas run at 50Hz rather
than the American 60Hz.
The program works fine, although I'm probably wearing a groove in my mouse
mat from all the up and down screen scrolling I have to do 🙂
It would be nice if the program could adapt to running on non-interlace
screens. The font it uses for message displays and editing looks very big
in this mode, it should be possible to select a smaller font and use a
message viewing window that would fit completly on the screen. How about
that as a future upgrade for users who can't afford exotic multiscan
monitors ?

I know it would be nice – but I'm not the programmer, and I don't know all
the problems involved in doing what you want. I feel sure that there
would be a GREAT deal of difficulty in doing it, else Steve would already
have done it. He tries very hard to make AP do what the users want.
