#Modify/Object/Move hangs
9 messages in this thread
Gary, thanks for your reply. David Mennenoh, in message #83337, says
that this is a bug in 3ds3–that Modify/Object/Move (with clone &
Multiple) comes to grief if faces are hidden via Hide/Face.
Is this a "known" problem? And is there a list of known bugs
available? Seems to me such a list could save us all some time–you,
in responding to the same problems over and over, and me/us in
determining just what's going wrong.
Carl,
<< And is there a list of known bugs available? >>
sorry, there isn't.

This is on our internal list of issues to fix in an eventual 3.01
update, Carl. The list is internal only… I realize how useful it
could be, but I can guarantee you that it'll never be released as
it's very tightly tied to issues relating to future versions of 3DS.

I've had an occassional glitch here, where in the Keyframer, pieces of my mesh
look like Display/Speed/Fastdraw is on. Nothing I do can make it reappear. If
I open a new project, and merge all the geometry from the offending file, the
"hard-to-see" edges reappear, so there is a work-around.
I just thought I'd mention it, in case it in some way relates to a larger bug,
or more importantly, something stupid at my end.
David,
<< Permanently hidden partial geometries..>>
send me a zipped, simplified prj when you see it again.

My guess is that you hit the V key by mistake, putting that viewport into
FastView mode. It's a common "typo".

Thanks for the pointer. If I do see it again, and its not as you describe,
I'll zip it up and send it to you and Jonas.

Thanks–that's good to hear! Nice to know it's not my off-brand m'board, my
persnickety graphics adapter, or (most of all) my general ineptitude! <g>
Really. It's nice to know that it's not ALWAYS a hardware problem. <g>
