Gary, thanks for your reply. David Mennenoh, in message #83337, says that this is a bug in 3ds3–that Modify/Object/Move (with clone & Multiple) comes to grief if faces are hidden via Hide/Face. Is this a "known" problem? And is there a list of known bugs available? Seems to me such a list could save us all some time–you, in responding to the same problems over and over, and me/us in determining just what's going wrong.

Carl, << And is there a list of known bugs available? >> sorry, there isn't. jonas[adesk]

This is on our internal list of issues to fix in an eventual 3.01 update, Carl. The list is internal only… I realize how useful it could be, but I can guarantee you that it'll never be released as it's very tightly tied to issues relating to future versions of 3DS.

>> eventual 3.01 update… I've had an occassional glitch here, where in the Keyframer, pieces of my mesh look like Display/Speed/Fastdraw is on. Nothing I do can make it reappear. If I open a new project, and merge all the geometry from the offending file, the "hard-to-see" edges reappear, so there is a work-around. I just thought I'd mention it, in case it in some way relates to a larger bug, or more importantly, something stupid at my end.

David, << Permanently hidden partial geometries..>> send me a zipped, simplified prj when you see it again. jonas[adesk]

My guess is that you hit the V key by mistake, putting that viewport into FastView mode. It's a common "typo". – G

Thanks for the pointer. If I do see it again, and its not as you describe, I'll zip it up and send it to you and Jonas.

>> This is on our internal list of issues to fix… << Thanks–that's good to hear! Nice to know it's not my off-brand m'board, my persnickety graphics adapter, or (most of all) my general ineptitude! <g>

Really. It's nice to know that it's not ALWAYS a hardware problem. <g> – G
