Like some other people, I got an instant GURU when I tried to run the latest
version of AmiGantt. I suspect that, like me, they unarced the download and
copied "arp.lib" to the Lib directory without renaming it as "arp.library".
Dumb, eh?
Now it works fine, but the .doc file is missing, and I'm a bit lost. Don't
really feel like downloading the whole thing again – would it be possible to
upload the .doc file separately?

Not really dumb…. There is a very big problem with running version 2.01.00
and above of AmiGantt from the Workbench. It has been traced to the version of
startup code I am using from the ARP development kit. I am in the process of
rewriting my startup and should have a new version available very soon. My
guess would be a week or so — once the harddrive gets fixed!!! I did upload a
2.01.02 version of the program, which should have the docs, but if you wish I
can upload just the docs as a separate file. Thanks for the note. drt
The version I have is 2.01.02 – the "read.me" lists AmiGantt.doc, but there's
just a short "Changes.doc" file. Good idea, really – if you upload
AmiGantt.doc as a separate file and update Changes.doc for each version, people
only have to download the full docs once.
When I tried to run AmiGantt from the Workbench (with "arp.lib" in my Libs
directory), I got an instant GURU. When I ran it from the CLI, I got a "you
need arp.library 34+" message, which told me what was wrong. Now that I have
"arp.library" in my Libs directory, it runs fine from either Workbench or CLI.
I'm retired, so don't manage projects any more, but I sure could have used a
program like this a few years ago!

AmiGantt is a terrific program. I couldn't tell you how many people I've shown
it to. Even sent it to a friend in England. I hope you're getting feedback
from these people.

Many thanks. It's nice to hear those kinds of comments from satisfied users.
This is mainly a 'Saturday afternoon' kind of project, but it's something I
felt was important for the Amiga, since there was so little 'business' type
software (other than DTP, WP, etc.) Nope, haven't heard from England yet, but
then again,with the mail being what it is, etc. If there are Europeans
listening, AmiGantt will soon (v. 3.0?) configure itself to the existing WB so
that people with PAL monitors or running MOREROWS will be able to get larger
worksheets.
Just a note to those trying it… Currently the WB startup has a problem which
will probably cause a GURU. Startup from CLI should be OK. I will try to get
the repaired version posted, along with a separate docs file ASAP. drt

My own use of AmiGantt has been limited to demos for my user group. I have
mentioned it in some articles, though. One person on Usenet asked me to Email
him a copy (which I did before it was put in their library), and used that to
persuade his company to buy some Amigas. I don't know how much use my English
friend made of it, but he really believes in these charts and was eager to see
the program.
Since I only tried to run it from CLI, no problem had shown itself to me.

I was waiting for this one!!!!! :}) AmiGantt is a simple project management
package for the Amiga. It certainly isn't SuperProject Plus or PROMIS, but it
contains a great deal of functionality in developing project schedules, setting
up resources, and managing the project development.

Just a reminder, there are a number of versions of the software available. The
lastest, 2.01.02 has a bug in the WB startup code, so run from CLI. The docs
are not contained in the 2.01.01 upload, but will be in the 2.01.00 or earlier
versions — one should be called amigantt.arc I'll upload the docs separately
when I get back to my own machine (I'm currently having to suffer with the
MSDOS hulk at the office!!!

The program looks interesting and I've heard many good things about it. In my
case, docs would really help though.
