#Scrolled of message

Today I got a message in my mail that was "Scrolled from Autodesk … ".
Instead of waiting to see I missed any others:
IF ANYONE THINKS I HAVE OWED THEM AN ANSWER
FOR MORE THAN A FEW DAYS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I am still using WinCim. I assume that once the date is reset, I won't get
notified that I have a waiting message. Right?
Does the date get reset if I come into the forum and don't look at my messages?
For example, if all I do is upload a file. Or, if all I do is send a message
from my out-basket?
I'd like to hear any tips on this "date thing."

If that was the subject of the message, what you got was a response from a
message that you wrote on the forum that was scrolled to the recipient. If the
"Scrolled from the Autodesk Software forum" showed up in the body of the
message too, it was scrolled from the forum to you and you missed it here.
But then you should have been receiving announcements about waiting messages
for the last four or five days………….<grin>.

Joe – don't we get that message if someone tries to send a message or reply
privately, since private messages aren't enabled here?
That would explain some scrolled messages in my mailbox that have today's
date on them…

Good question. I keep getting these scrolled off messages even though
I download the entire forum several times a day. Missing one I would
understand but that many makes me wonder.

We've had a number of messages that supposedly scrolled off the forum in the
last several weeks and we log in six times a day 7 days a week. It definately
doesn't make alot of sense.

If you have been using comm software that uses ASCII protocol,
(instead of HMI), this has been a problem for close to a year. There
was a bug in the CIS Forum software that often incorrectly set the
wrong number as the oldest in a thread since you last logged on. For
instance, it says that there are 6 new messages in a thread, you mark
them for downloading, and upon checking, find you received only 3
messages, say, #'s 150, 160, and 170. If you then log on with a
program that uses HMI, such as WinCim or their new CSNav, reset the
date, and mark this same thread for downloading, you will recieve all
6 messages, which *actually* started with # 110, etc. ASCII software
was incorrectly setting the oldest new message number at 150, *not*
the correct # 110. I had several discussions with CIS sysops, and
they *confirmed* this was a known bug using ASCII protocol, but most
people didn't notice it because most people don't compare the actual
messages downloaded against the actual requested. HMI protocol
doesn't suffer from this BUG, so I have been using CIS' new CSNav for
offline marking and retrieval becauses it uses HMI instead of ASCII.
Finally, though, this bug is *supposed* to be fixed in the new forum
software they just installed last week that now supports Latin 1
characters. I haven't checked it yet using ASCII software, so I don't
know if they *really* fixed it yet. This doesn't really explain
"scrolled messages forwarded as email", but it *does* explain missing
messages in threads you might have downloaded.
BTW, I still have the messages fron the sysops verifying this bug, so
no one would try to tell me I was imagining things. Joe MacRae, the
sysop here, even verified it. (I still have his message, too.<g>)
