What can I tell you? When I submit an ARC file including the text of a
column and IFF pictures of all illustrations, which ARE CORRECT, and someone
at the magazine decides for whatever reason to completely REDRAW those
illustrations and introduce a glaring error… well, it's pretty much out of
my hands. I'd love to have an opportunity to check galley proofs, but they
don't give authors that option. The sad thing is, the redrawn illustrations
are layed out identically to my original submissions, sans the errors. Beats
me why they felt they had to redraw them. I can't say about Perry's article,
but I wouldn't be surprised if his errors originated at the magazine offices
also.
According to Perry, the errors in his article were indeed introduced at the
magazine. Sems to me it would be a lot better if the magazine used an
automated IFF to PostScript convertor, rather than relying on the talents of
someone doing it by hand.
Hmm. So how do we explain all the other errors in Amazing? 🙂
Dunno John, but I would rather try to explain all the errors in Amazing
Computing than I would for Amigaworld. 😉
