#GG486SLC Par Port Prblm?

David, What a pain–to spend $3000 on a program and find it plays
protection games like that! I agree–get a card with a second
parallel port on it. You might want to look for a combo board that
has other functions as well. You can't hold it against the GG–it's
one thing to send printing across to the Amiga parallel port, it's
another thing entirely to check it for a dongle. Marion CROSSINGS

Hi Marion…
Thanks for the reply…. I wanted to get back to you. Trying to preserve my
remaining open slots, I did exactly as you suggested… I obtained an I/O board
that has two serial ports, a game port, a parallel port, an IDE controller, and
a floppy drive controller… All on one board for about $20.00. (A Data
Technology PC/AT Super I/) card with standard IDE.)
A lot of ways to configure it, and I spent a little time comparing the disk
drive performance of my (now THREE!!) IDE controllers. Interesting thing is I
get better performance from the built-in Seagate if I increase the heads (or
sides) a bit from those specified on the drive casing.
Oh, it looks like the new parallel port has resolved my problems with the
dongle, so things are progressing nicely with my new machine(s).
Thanks again,
– Dave
