#Texture Universe

Can somebody give me some opinions if the texture universe CD is worth buying.
In Australia it is "at a special price of $299". At this price it would need to
be pretty good. I've got the Cd that came with R3, is the new one more of the
same, a revamp or something totally new.
$299 would go a long way towards buying a 3rd party IPAS, which seem to do some
really amazing things, I'm thinking this may be better value for money.
Thanks Kim
You will need to assess that for yourself. Quite often, I use TU and some
other texture collections as starting points for new textures or masks of my
own. It saves me the time and effort of getting the boiler-plate image. Also,
TU has a great image browser.
However, if your work is geared more towards special-effects, the IPAS may be
the way to go. It's really hard for anyone besides yourself to know which is
the better value for you at this time.
At least you'll be getting your money's worth either way, IMO.

My PERSONAL opinion is that you'd be better off buying some IPAS's.

Kim,
If you're looking for textures, I would put the money into a good fractal paint
program like Fractal Painter 3. This is an excellent program for background
textures and texture mapping. It also has automated image processing and other
nice features. If you have a good paint program, go for the IPAS.
