I have had the DPS PAR for a few weeks now and have run into some problems. When I try to copy parts of some animations from the PAR drive to my normal hard drive, some of the targa get messed up even though they are fine in the animation on the PAR. The other problem is a sudden error in PAR's animations. Some of the animations that I made were totally destroyed all of a sudden. I was wondering if this might have happened because of the Micropolis 1.7 IDE drive was getting to hot? I wasn't able to put a fan in for it until just this weekend. If anyone can shed some light on this problem I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance. Alex

What vesrion of PAR software are you using??? There has been some trouble with backing up files, however what is your Block Limit??? Normally the backup problem should be solved soon with the next release1.38 I was told. It could also be you harddrive however I doubt that some people needed a new Micropolis due to problems. Alex: Christophe has outlined some of the known problems for you. One bit of precautionary advice: Don't delete your Projects off of the PAR drive. This has been the source of tremendous grief as it has scrambled entire drives worth of animations. Deleting animation files has not been a problem but refrain from deleting the projects until you are ready to reformat the drive. The soon to be release update to the PAR software should have this corrected as well as the mysterious >896 frame frazzle/backup problem which Christophe mentioned and you may have encountered. Upon copying/backing up files of this length to a DOS drive and back many people have found the frames after #896 scrambled. Sometimes you can get an animation which looks damaged to play fine after you optimize the drive. Keep an eye to the forum as the new PAR.EXE is due very soon. Bob

What do you mean by deleting projects? Are you referring to Razor Pro projects? I've only had my PAR for a little over a week and so far I've only seen .ANI and .STL files. I've been deleting .ANI files both with DOS and with the PAR software (1.09), and haven't had any problems yet. Could you elaborate a little more. DM

David: On the PAR drive Projects = Directories. On a DOS drive one would delete the files from a directory and then remove the directory if it is no longer needed. On the PAR drive one can delete the files (.ani or .stl) in a Project without a problem but it is when you delete the Project itself where things have gone awry. I'm suggesting that even if the Project directories become empty by deleting their contents, don't delete the Project directory. Just leave it empty until you are ready to reformat the drive. Bob

>>>The soon to be release update to the PAR software should have this corrected as well as the mysterious >896 frame frazzle/backup problem which Christophe mentioned and you may have encountered.<<< I saw a post on the DPS BBS about this. MCI drivers for Windows and .avi support for Premiere. Is this the software Greg Pyros was talking about? Or is Greg releases a program of his own?

Tim: The PAR update is due in a few days/weeks? and is supposed to be v 1.5 I believe. The other product, the one which ties into network rendering is the one GregP mentioned. I'm expecting both products will have formal announcements posted here with all of the facts. I am guaranteed to get it wrong if I speculate. Bob
