Hello- Has anyone found a way to bring a .FLC into Gold Disk's Astound? The program recognizes .AWM, .AWA, .SCM and .AIM formats. Any and all clues appreciated! Jeff Blackwell Envision

I have discussed this ASTOUNDing problem with Gold Disk and here's what they report. You have to have the latest version, which I believe is v1.5b. You can get the patch here on CIS (find Gold Disk). Unfortunately, ASTOUND will only accept .FLC as "alternate video format". You can open a video window and place it on your slide, and play a .FLC instead of an .AVI. Apparently you can't use .FLC as actors or anything else in ASTOUND except as fake videos (Boy was I disappointed that my custom AniPro transitions can't be plugged into ASTOUND). Incidently, I feel it is a major faux paus that PC Mag recommends ASTOUND, yet it doesn't REALLY support the defacto Windoze animation file format. I have sent feedback to PCMag on this, and anyone else who wants to add their 2 cents worth is welcome. Hope this helps, sorry the news isn't as positive as you might have wished.

Hello Dennis- Yes, I was aware that ASTOUND wouldn't play .FLCs directly, but assumed there was a conversion utility. It does seem ASTOUNDING that Gold Disk wouldn't incorporate support for .FLCs. This is my first project in ASTOUND. I was lead to believe it was the best of the "second tier" Windows programming packages. ( I've been disapointed by Compel and a few others.) Too bad SOMEBODY doesn't make a Windows authoring package that really works! Thanks for your information, Dennis. Jeff Blackwell Envision
